This past year Alpha and the Sisters of Mercy in Jamaica marked 145 years of service at South Camp Road and the Alpha School of Music celebrated its first graduates. 2025 also brought challenges. Through working together, we have learned Alpha’s ensemble approach to music is helpful in life as well.
With a 100+ year legacy of service, excellence and a forward-looking educational philosophy, Alpha blends tradition with innovation to nurture disciplined, creative and socially conscious youth prepared to make meaningful contributions to Jamaica and the global community.
Upward and Onward.
Our Impact…
2025 marked an historic graduation by trailblazing graduates like Sanje Landell, the first student to matriculate from the Alpha Vocational Training Centre, Zuri Gordon, the first woman to study music at Alpha and Jonathan Gordon, the first valedictorian and an amazing performance that became the subject of a documentary.
Professional development for music teachers in Hanover and St James as well as community band performances in Montego Bay helped to strengthen the music education foundation in western Jamaica.
