July 1 is International Reggae Day and there is no better way to celebrate than to announce the Black Angel Scholarships, created to support talented young musicians who show dedication, potential, and passion for their craft, will continue to remove financial barriers and strengthen the pathway from school to work for Alpha students. This scholarship represents more than just assistance—it’s an investment in the future of Jamaica’s creative talent.

International Reggae Day is a 24-hour global celebration every July 1 recognizing Jamaican music culture and its global impact. (Click here for the IRD website). The Alpha School of Music is proud to partner with the Black Angel Foundation to highlight the impact and opportunity of music education on reggae culture. Established by the family of Joseph ‘Black Angel’ Buchanan, a young musician who passed away before realizing all of his dreams in music. Today, Black Angel Foundation is making dreams come true for those who need the help most.

The Black Angel Scholarship provides essential support for students pursuing music education and professional development. Modern music education, particularly training for 21st century employment, requires community backing and the Alpha School of Music is grateful to be able to continue its relationship with the Black Angel Foundation in support of Alpha music students.
