The National Gallery of Jamaica (NGJ), in collaboration with the International Reggae Poster Contest (IRPC), is pleased to announce the upcoming Art of Reggae Exhibition Auction, taking place on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at 12 Ocean Boulevard, Downtown Kingston. The auction will begin at 12 noon, led by auctioneer Douglas Reid, artist and owner of Grosvenor Gallery. Doors open at 10:00 AM and close at 4:00 PM, with registration beginning at 11:30 AM.

This much-anticipated event serves as the closing celebration of The 30th Art of Reggae Exhibition, which features 100 poster designs selected from a global pool of submissions to the 9th International Reggae Poster Contest, themed “Jamaican Roots of Hip-Hop.” This edition honours Clive Campbell, better known as DJ Kool Herc, the Jamaican-born pioneer who developed the breakbeat—the foundation of hip hop. Through bold and eclectic graphic design, the exhibition explores reggae’s influence on hip hop and DJ Kool Herc’s lasting cultural impact.
