As part of an immersive, experiential summer class entitled, “Arts In Jamaica”, Stanford University students, led by Dr Katie Dieter, Stanford’s Director of Advanced Studies & Community Engaged Learning in the Department of African and African American Studies at Stanford University, spent time at the Alpha School of Music learning about Alpha’s history, contributions to Jamaican and international music culture as well as the new Associate Degree music programme.
Alpha students and staff also joined with their Stanford peers for a special jam session led by Alpha Bandmaster Emeritus Sparrow Martin. In the second half of the collaborative learning exercise with Alpha, students from both Alpha and Stanford will go into the studio to record a song together. Stay tuned!
